Leadership practice:
For my leadership practice I chose to divide it into different events. During my time as a UW Leader I became a proud sister of Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Incorporated. Our traditional values are unity, honesty, integrity and leadership thus I wanted my practices to exemplify these values. From April 3 to April 8 I participated in Kappa Delta Chi’s founder’s week. This week I collaborated in the successful production of an American Cancer Society (our philanthropy) Day in Red Square, also lead an informational night about our sisterhood, aided in the planning of the celebration of KDChi’s 26th birthday with the distribution of free cake at Red Square, a friendly lunch with the Alpha Pi chapter then aided in giving out free ice-scream sundaes at the ECC to organizations all over campus and finally completing the week with the coordination of Noche de Esperanza event. This event is a free dinner and a show decorated with our colors, pink and maroon, with the purpose of celebrating our philanthropy. Being in a small committee was hard, tasks needed to be delegated and I learned how to work efficiently, take on important responsibilities and most importantly trust that others will get the work done. I feel I came out of this practice with a new understanding of the different leadership roles one can take; when to step up and when to step down.
