Year: Sophomore
Major: Communication & American Ethnic Studies
Hometown: Seattle, WA
Fun Fact: I sometimes have bad experiences with glass or ceramic objects, such as running into the glass of a revolving door and shattering a cookie jar at Hallmark (which I luckily did not have to pay for).
Leadership practice:
For my Leadership Practice I am working with Hip Hop Student Association to help put on their annual Hip Hop Summit event. I’m helping out with this event because I want to become more involved in the hip hop scene and this event would be a great way to learn more about it since the event embodies what hip hop is all about. As of right now, I am set to help promote the event and work on ways to get people new to the hip hop community/scene become more aware of what hip hop is, as well as feel more included and involved at the event.
My main leadership takeaway is learning about some of the behind-the-scenes work that happens in planning an event and learning about what it takes to plan, promote, and run a big event. Within this process, my main takeaway also involves learning more about the four element of hip hop, bringing people together, and learning more about myself and my leadership style.
