Empathy vs Sympathy

This week the cohort explored the difference between empathy and sympathy and built a toolkit of techniques to help them be more empathetic individuals.

Meeting Takeaways:

  1. Empathy is a skill. It takes practice to respond in empathetic ways and it also can be cultivated by pushing yourself to see new things and meet new people.
  2. Being there for someone can look very different for different people. Be vocal about your desire to support someone and be willing to respond in the way that they need you to.
  3. Empathy is a powerful tool that can help you relate to others and lead in your personal and professional lives.
