Leadership practice:
I am a Colonizing Member for Alpha Omicron Pi which is a new chapter at the University of Washington. We are working very hard in order to organize this chapter in order to be ready for Formal Recruitment in Fall 2013. I am working with not only 90 girls from UW that are Colonizing Members, but also with alumni and women from the AOII HQ. We are currently having elections for Leaders Council and Cabinet positions, and doing a lot of “business” work in order to get our colony installed and ready for initiation in May. I got involved because I wanted to step outside my comfort zone (which is where all the magic happens) and also to make new friends and be part of an everlasting sisterhood. Being a Colonizing Member takes a great amount of initiative and leadership. One has to learn everything about Alpha Omicron Pi from its founding members to picking a local Philanthropy to support-our National Philanthropy is Arthritis research and the American Juvenile Arthritis Organization. I am glad I have this great opportunity to work with so many leaders and combine efforts, and start a chapter at the UW that will be here for many years to come. Alpha love!
