Putting Yourself Onto Paper

This week the cohort learned about how to craft an effective resume as well as how to build and utilize LinkedIn. Leaders had an opportunity to talk with a recruiter as well as to have an upperclassmen look at their resume or LinkedIn in order to get feedback!

Key Takeaways:

  • Resumes and LinkedIn are not scary and should be utilized early on in your career. There are so many great resources on campus to use (Career Center, Department Career Services, Odegaard Writing and Research Center, Mary Gates Scholarship Advising Office, etc.)
  • No matter what, always be editing and updating your resume/LinkedIn. Have classmates, friends, mentors look over them.
  • Use your resume or LinkedIn to network with recruiters. Make sure you follow up with email or a LinkedIn message after meeting with a recruiter and check in with them every once in a while if possible.
