(2013-2014 Mentor) Brandon Himes

Brandon Himes

‘Howdy,

My name is Brandon Himes, I’m a senior here at the UW and double majoring in Communication and Sociology. I’m from the beautiful town of Missoula, Montana and miss home all the time, but enjoy the new experiences Seattle has to offer. At UW I have had the opportunity to serve on the ASUW Board of Directors, work for the Daily, RHSA, and the UW Leaders program. In high school I was involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters, our student newspaper, Model United Nations and Students Against World Mal-Nutriton.

Outside of school I have a passion for country music, and I am planning to move to Nashville, Tennessee after I graduate to work in the industry. I spent my previous summer interning for Scripps Networks Interactive which is the company that broadcasts Food Network, HGTV, Travel Channel, GAC, DIY Network and the Cooking Channel and had an incredible experience living in Knoxville, TN. I also love being outdoors, riding horses, creative projects and dogs. I have a three year old Boxer-Pit Bull mix that lives with me here in Seattle that is the light of my life. On weekends you can usually find us at the dog park, or a good concert. Not necessarily in that order though…

For my senior year at UW I am focusing on my current position on the ASUW Board of Directors as the Communications Director, taking care of my dog and enjoying the brilliant minds of UW Leaders. My freshman year I was a leader in the program and it completely changed my experience here at UW. I currently am living with the mentor I had freshman year and they continue to inspire me and push me. I can’t wait to meet everyone in the program and help ensure that everyone has the positive experience that I did when I was in the program.
