Mitchell Walton
Hi there! My name is Mitchell Walton, and I am so excited to be a mentor for the incredible UW Leaders program! To let you know a bit about myself, I proudly grew up in the lovely and highly-reputable Renton, WA where I attended Hazen High School, I am currently a senior majoring in Psychology with a minor in Diversity, I am slightly (or tremendously depending on who you ask) obsessed with Adventure Time, I laugh at my own jokes, and I love playing tennis and watching the Seahawks crush their opponents on weekends. In other important news, I have an identical twin brother who also attends the UW, so if you see me on campus, there is a 50% chance you are wrong ☺
As for my involvement on and off campus, I have been a part of hall council and worked as a Resident Advisor, I have been a part of the ASUW Elections Administration Committee, ASUW Personnel Committee, served as the Husky Innovation Project and Office of Volunteer Opportunities Intern, and dabbled in a few other areas of the ASUW. Currently, I conduct social psychology research, TA for a lab course, and intern at a consulting firm in downtown Seattle. This year, I will also be serving as the ASUW Office of Volunteer Opportunities Director, meaning it is my job to connect students to volunteer opportunities within the ASUW! I am extremely passionate about what I do, so if you are looking to get involved and develop your leadership skills, I would be delighted to help!
I was a leader in this program during my sophomore year, and when I started, I was completely lost as far as knowing what I wanted to do with my time at UW. Thankfully, UW Leaders gave me the direction that I needed to really make the most out of my UW experience, and it solidified my understanding of how I want to use leadership throughout the rest of my life. The friendships I have gained from this program mean so much to me, and I am really looking forward to creating an awesome community with all of you wonderful people!
