2015 Leaders Upandha Udalagama

Upandha Udalagama

Year: First Year
Major: Environmental Physics
Hometown: Kandy, Sri Lanka
Fun Fact: I am Sri Lankan but I was born in Kenya and lived there for most of my life; therefore my accent has been identified as quite ‘weird,’ ranging from being British to being Australian.
Leadership Practice: The opportunities within the university campus provides myself with an immense amount of advantage due to the numerous leadership practices that can be explored. Personally, I want to utilize my leadership qualities in order to make a difference on the campus, especially with an activity that means a lot to me. From previous experience, I have had the privilege to lead a Cancer Organization within my high school where we were able to care for children affected by the disease. Additionally, I opened a medical clinic in a rural village to ensure the villeagers received the proper medical care they require. With a background related to the health of our bodies, I’m interested in getting involved as an intern with either SARVA (Sexual Assault and Relationship Violence Activists) or the Student Health Consortium. Through the internship I will want to, in due time, get in touch with the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance to see if I can be of any assistance to them, specifically with the children.
