2015-2016 Mentor – Andrew Arakaki

Greetings, loved ones. My name is Andrew and I am a Junior majoring in Biology and minoring in Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies. I was a Leader during my freshman year, had the privilege of serving as the Assistant Director last year as a sophomore, and am super jazzed to come back for a third year as a Mentor! Outside of UW Leaders, I am currently serving as the Assistant Director of the Office of Volunteer Opportunities and will also be a Section Leader for the Husky Leadership Initiative’s class, “Learning Leadership Theory and Practice.” In term of scientific involvement, I did summer research in a freshwater ecology and conservation lab and completed a shadowing program at Spectrum Internal Medicine. Outside of all this academic and professional jib jab, I have EXTREMELY specific interests including, but not limited to: early 2000’s pop/angsty rock (think Avril Lavigne and Fall Out Boy), high-quality television, everything and anything written by F Scott Fitzgerald, and Chipotle (the best food on the planet). I could also talk your ear off about anything related to Orange County and Laguna Beach, so if you have any questions about this these topics, proceed at your own risk.
